This is one of Oskar van Deventer's classic puzzle designs. Three shifting-steps are required to get the first piece out of the puzzle, and from there it comes apart easily. There are basically two types of pieces (big-hole and small-hole) including a few modified "key pieces" which make assembly possible. As opposed to its
12-piece cousin, the solution to this puzzle has a tendency to put big-hole pieces through other big-hole pieces, and likewise small-hole pieces through other small-hole pieces. Following this principle, its not especially difficult to figure out the solution.
Standing a mere 1.25" tall, this small scale puzzle easily fits in your pocket or purse, and makes an excellent companion for long trips, boring meetings, or simply taking a break from whatever else you were busy working on. The sturdy wooden pieces will happily take the abuse of being quickly thrown back into your pocket when your bus or boss suddenly arrives.
